The New York Fly Is Here
It’s really real. It’s really us. We’re really here.
If you’re reading this, then you have been devastated by our absence. You spent every morning and every night checking Instagram and our website. You were pleading to any and every higher power worshiped throughout history to bring back your beloved Fly. Your dreams were filled by the little cartoon fly from our logo buzzing around the trademark orange ‘C’ and it killed you a little bit inside to wake up and realize it was only just that – a dream. Your fingers went raw typing on your keyboards and phones searching up ‘fly,’ ‘collegiate fly,’ and ‘fly collegiate, only to find flight training simulators and pilot colleges.
Now we understand all of that and are even slightly delighted by your misery, but we have a perfectly reasonable and acceptable explanation: We’ve been busy and you have to move on.
Sometimes things that are more important just come up. We can’t be expected to feed you all the news all the time, even we need a break sometimes. But luckily your days of scouring The Wall Street Journal or The New York Times for any humorous tidbit are over because we’re back baby, and more independent than ever.
I’m sure you’ve noticed the navy blue background that has overtaken the orange, the cool white skyscraper being circled by our beloved little fly, and of course, our new name: The New York Fly. There must be tons of questions racing through your head right now. What’s going on? What happened to the ‘Collegiate’ in The Collegiate Fly? What is up with this Empire State Building logo? Why are the founders so handsome?
All perfectly reasonable questions with a fairly simple explanation.
After a glorious run through Collegiate, amassing thousands of views and website visits, they politely asked us to drop the school’s name from the magazine’s title and disassociate from the institution completely. On an unrelated note, we have decided that we don’t want to be tied down by the school and all of its restrictions and redactions anymore.
Get ready for the finest news source out there: The New York Fly.
No longer controlled by anyone except us.
You’re welcome.
